![]() I think he just thought that’s exactly who he was, this grand voice and elegant life. ![]() Because I don’t think it felt fake to him. He had to create himself to become who he really was meant to be. It’s interesting, the idea that somebody adopts a persona… I think he did curate himself, but at the same time, I do believe that that sort of in itself suggests that there’s a fakeness to him. ![]() It’s nice, that sort of culmination of the persona, if you like. And then you pull the black turtleneck over your head, and become the Halston people then came to know. Just to portray him to the audience so that people can get a sense of who this man was: people who do know who he was and people who have no idea, like myself.ĭEADLINE: There’s a pivotal moment in the first episode where you, as Halston, are looking in the mirror and you suddenly slick back your hair. And you’re not showing all of his life, but sort of the highlights, if you like, or the lowlights sometimes. I suppose working with Dan and working with Ryan scripts, we’re trying to show a man’s life. But I felt like I got him as right as I wanted him to be. ![]() And that’s all of him, it’s everything about him. If you’re playing somebody who’s been alive and who’s loved and respected, you’ve got a massive responsibility to get him right. MCGREGOR: He didn’t walk like me, so I had to walk like him. Atsushi Nishijima/NetflixĭEADLINE: One of the things you capture is Halston’s walk, how elegantly he moved through the air. There’s a very ‘meant-ness’ about the way he’s holding himself-that’s not a word-but he’s striking a pose, almost. And you could see how he wanted himself to be seen, almost. There’s that sort of steeliness in his eyes. But there was something about him in those photographs, where I just knew I had to play him. And that’s really how I ended up involved in the project anyway, because I met Dan and he showed me these incredible big blown-up photographs of Halston… I didn’t know who he was. And especially the photographs of Halston. I’ve always found that they’re very telling. I’ve done it a few times-playing people who have lived. And so, I watched a lot of that stuff and then tried to become him. He liked to shoot his workshop and he liked people to see him designing and fitting. And there’s a lot of footage of Halston, too. And then, of course, I worked with Dan on that, and I worked with Jeriana, the costume designer, on his look and his clothes, and that’s all informative. And I just tried to get a sense of who he was. I spoke to his friends that were surviving, although there’s not many left really. MCGREGOR: I watched a lot of interviews of him. ![]() But it was a tall order to do that.ĭEADLINE: How did you find the character to the point that you could embody Halston so comfortably on screen? So, it was very difficult to shoot, and the Covid people at the Netflix production were incredible and kept us all safe. And he was able to, especially during Covid, make a ’60s and ’70s New York come alive, against the odds, really, because we were shooting January to March in New York City, and then we were closed down, and then we came back later in September to December with the height of Covid there in New York City. And I really loved working with Dan Minahan on the series. Whether you’re looking for a Showit sales page template or a Showit pricing guide template, Showit’s ability to add purchased designs onto your existing website might be one of the most beneficial features in this Showit vs Squarespace showdown. The only downside here is that Showit doesn’t have access to the Adobe fonts like Squarepsace does however, this can easily be fixed with a small bit of code! Showit Sales Page templates My design style relies heavily on varying fonts for Header 1, Header 2, and Header 3, and this was actually one of the first reasons that led me to think Showit would be a better option. Not only do you have more control over your overall default settings with individual selections for your various header levels, you can also adjust individual lines of text in case you need to. On Showit on the other hand, you are way more in control of your font settings. ![]() The problem with the font packs is that without coding, you’re not able to set a different font style for your various heading sizes (header 1, header 2, etc), causing them all to look pretty much the same.įrom a designer perspective, this is obviously not ideal, as it really hinders the way we’re able to utilize fonts and font treatments to create an engaging website. While Squarespace used to allow for a lot more flexibility in setting up your fonts in their older version (7.0), Squarespace 7.1 utilizes a new type of font settings referred to font packs. For starters, these new models are officially referred to by Apple as (1) the Magic Keyboard With Touch ID For Mac Models With Apple Silicon ( $149/ £149), and (2) the Magic Keyboard with Touch ID and Numeric Keypad for Mac Models with Apple Silicon ( $179/ £179). However, these newer models bring a number of new features that aren’t available on the older Magic keyboards. There’s also a larger version, simply called the MX Keys, which has a separate numeric keypad as well – and this has recently been on sale at the same price as the MX Keys Mini, although it’s not clear if that price cut will turn out to be permanent.Īt first glance, the two Magic Keyboard models launched by Apple in mid-2021 look very similar to the original models – which are still available and reviewed here as well. Logitech’s Options app also allows you to program the Function keys to perform different tasks, such as opening Mail or Safari. ![]() The top row of Function keys works automatically with the Mac, allowing you to adjust the backlight, volume and other controls. However, turning the backlight off extends that time to a full five months – far longer than the single month provided by Apple’s Magic Keyboard. The backlight does drain the keyboard’s rechargeable battery, lasting only 10 days if you have the backlight on full brightness the whole time. The keyboard has a backlight too, with a sensor that automatically activates the backlight as your hands approach the keyboard, and then turn it off after a few seconds when you move away. Available in a variety of colours, it’s heavier and sturdier than the Magic Keyboard, with firmer keys that feel more responsive when typing. The basic design of the MX Keys Mini is impressive. And, to be honest, Logitech’s years of experience with mice and keyboards really give it the edge. The latest model in the range is the new MX Keys Mini ( $99.99/ £99.99) and has a compact, low-profile design that clearly pitches it as an alternative to Apple’s own Magic Keyboard. Logitech’s Craft and Ergo K860 keyboards are both designed for specific types of users, but if you’re just looking for a good general-purpose keyboard then its MX Keys range is hard to beat. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Could this be a cool solution for your overheating-in-the-van issues?
